PAINTED BRICK
This is always a contentious debate – to paint brick or not? I lean toward pro-paint, especially when the goal is a cottage or coastal vibe.
DRIFTWOOD PLANKS
A modern horizontal firebox combines with wood planking in a driftwood finish to create a relaxed setting.
CONTRAST PAINT
Sometimes it’s not what you do to the mantle, but what happens around it that creates drama. Here a carved white mantle contrasts nicely with a coastal blue wall and bookcases.
